Description
To be totally honest with you, I get more excited for scientific missions rather than human spaceflight. I couldn't contain myself when JWST launched, waiting for Ingenuity's first flight on Mars, and am already freaking out about the future Dragonfly mission to Titan. Of course, I do watch rocket launches and planned to cheer for the first woman to travel around the Moon. However, like many others, I did not expect to be completely sucked in to the Artemis II mission and keeping the stream on 24/7. Watching the Earth get smaller and the Moon get larger live with four brave humans was indescribable. With all the darkness in the world, I think we needed this collective moment for humanity to inspire hope in our tiny corner of the Universe.
This painting is based on a real image of the Moon taken by the astronauts during the Artemis II mission. Part of the Moon's far side and Orientale Basin is in view, giving us a unique look.
