Description
A black sea devil anglerfish captured the Internet's heart in early 2025 when it was spotted by divers near the surface swimming towards the light. These tiny fish live deep in the dark ocean where sunlight doesn't reach. Though many were touched by the fish's long journey to see the Sun for the first time, the reality is much darker. Researchers believe these rare appearances are due to stress, sickness, or environmental changes. I painted our friend not to idolize or celebrate a cute viral moment, but as a reminder of the consequences of a changing climate and ocean temperatures.

I do my best to represent my art as accurately as possible. I post unedited photos taken in natural daylight. Actual colors in person may vary due to variances across digital screens and how color is interpreted from person to person.
